When working with Stainless Steel (SS) pipes, the choice of threading dies is critical. Because stainless steel is significantly harder and "gummier" than standard galvanized iron, you must use HSS (High-Speed Steel) dies rather than standard alloy dies to avoid premature dulling or tearing the threads.¹
