Versatile Applications
This torch is "heavy duty" because it maintains a stable flame at various angles and reaches temperatures high enough for light metalwork:
-
Kitchen/Culinary: Searing steaks, caramelizing sugar on crème brûlée, or skinning tomatoes.
-
Workshop: Loosening rusted bolts, light brazing/soldering of copper pipes, and heat-shrinking tubing.
-
DIY & Craft: Bubble removal in epoxy resin, aging wood for a "burnt" look (Shou Sugi Ban), and jewelry making.
-
Outdoor: Lighting charcoal BBQs or campfires instantly, even in windy conditions.
Operating Instructions
-
Check the Seal: Ensure the black O-ring inside the torch connector is present and undamaged.
-
Align & Twist: Align the notch on the torch with the notch on the butane canister. Press down and twist clockwise to lock. You should hear a brief "hiss" that stops once locked.
-
Ignite: Turn the rear gas adjustment knob slightly counter-clockwise until you hear gas flowing. Press the trigger/button to click and ignite.
-
Adjust: Use the knob to control the flame length. A "roaring" blue flame is the hottest setting.
Essential Safety Tips
-
Pre-heat Period: Allow the torch to run for about 30 seconds before tilting it at extreme angles. This prevents "flaring" (liquid gas entering the burner).
-
Cool Down: The brass nozzle becomes extremely hot during use. Do not touch it or put it in a bag for at least 10 minutes after turning it off.
-
Storage: Always detach the torch from the gas canister when not in use. This prevents accidental ignition or slow leaks.
-
Ventilation: Use only in well-ventilated areas to avoid carbon monoxide buildup.
