Anti-Flare System: Once preheated (usually after 30 seconds to 2 minutes), this model is designed to be used at any angle without the flame "flaring" or flickering.
Ergonomic Grip: The black ABS body is shaped to fit comfortably in the palm, making it easier to control for delicate tasks like soldering or decorating food.
Windproof Design: The high-velocity jet flame is difficult to blow out, making it excellent for outdoor use like camping or starting a BBQ.
Safety Latch: Most XJ-8088 units feature a bayonet-style connection that requires a "push and twist" motion to ensure it is locked securely to the butane canister.
Food Prep: Ideal for browning meat, melting cheese, and perfectly caramelizing crème brûlée sugar.
Workshops: Great for heat-shrink tubing, light welding/brazing, and stripping paint.
Jewelry: Used for softening metals (annealing) or soldering small silver/gold components.
While both reach 1300°C, the primary differences are:
Weight: The XJ-8088 (Black) is typically lighter (around 120g-140g), making it less fatiguing for long-term use.
Heat Retention: The Gold (MPT-8028) model often features more metal in the housing, which can handle longer continuous burn times, whereas the Black (XJ-8088) is better for "burst" tasks (1–5 minutes at a time).
To avoid dangerous orange "flares" of liquid gas, always keep the torch upright for the first 30 seconds after ignition. Once the internal tube is hot, the gas vaporizes more efficiently, and you can safely turn the torch upside down.
