The Fiesto Wool Paint Roller Refill (2") in White is the "specialist" compared to the synthetic Tiger or Blue & Green rollers you've looked at. Because it uses natural wool (lambswool) or a high-quality wool blend, it behaves very differently from acrylic or foam rollers.
Here is why the Fiesto Wool refill is a favorite for high-end finishing:
Superior Absorption: Wool is naturally porous. It can hold significantly more paint than synthetic fibers, meaning you spend less time dipping and more time painting.
Ultra-Smooth Finish: The fine fibers of the wool "lay down" the paint much flatter than synthetic strands, resulting in a finish with almost zero "orange peel" texture.
Natural Resiliency: Unlike some budget synthetic rollers that flatten out after an hour of use, wool fibers spring back to their original shape, maintaining a consistent finish throughout the job.
| Surface | Recommended Paint |
| High-Gloss Woodwork | Oil-based Gloss / Enamel |
| Cabinets & Furniture | Polyurethane / Lacquer |
| Metal Surfaces | Anti-corrosive Primers |
| Smooth Plaster | Premium Silk / Satin Emulsion |
Vs. SC Tiger (2"): The Tiger is a "workhorse" for general DIY. The Fiesto Wool is a "finisher." Use the Tiger for your first coat or rougher surfaces; use the Fiesto Wool for your final topcoat on smooth surfaces.
Vs. SC Blue & Green (4"): While the Blue & Green is great for walls, the Fiesto Wool is the king of oil-based paints. Synthetic fibers can sometimes "melt" or become sticky with heavy solvents, but wool handles them perfectly.
Wool rollers are an investment. Because they are high-quality, don't throw them away after one use!
If using water-based paint: Wash thoroughly with warm soapy water and spin dry.
If using oil-based paint: Clean with mineral spirits/thinner.
Comb the wool: Use a small comb while drying to keep the fibers from matting together.
