This is one of the most frequently replaced parts. The welding wire feeds directly through this small, threaded copper tip, which transfers the welding current to the wire.
Function: Transfers the electrical current to the welding wire.
Wire Diameter: Must match the diameter of the wire you are using (e.g., 0.8mm, 1.0mm, 1.2mm, 1.6mm).
Material Types:
E-Cu (Copper): Standard tip for welding mild steel.
CuCrZr (Copper Zirconium): A harder, more durable alloy used for heavy-duty applications, pulsed welding, or when welding stainless steel, as it offers better resistance to heat and wear.
Aluminium (Alu): Designed with a smoother, slightly oversized bore to prevent the softer aluminum wire from jamming.
This threaded component screws into the swan neck and serves two purposes: it holds the contact tip in place and helps channel the gas from the diffuser.
Function: Holds the contact tip and secures the gas nozzle.
Key Identifiers: It must be compatible with both the torch (MB36) and the contact tip thread (e.g., M8 or M6).
The outermost part of the torch, the gas nozzle's job is to direct the flow of shielding gas (like Argon or COâ‚‚) to protect the molten weld pool from atmospheric contamination.
Function: Directs shielding gas to the weld area.
Conical: The most common shape.
Tapered: A more extreme taper than the conical nozzle, offering maximum joint access and visibility, especially in tight corners.
Attachment: They are typically "push-fit" or "slip-on" and are held in place by the tip adaptor or a spring.
Situated between the swan neck and the tip adaptor, the diffuser is a critical piece that ensures the shielding gas flows evenly and smoothly out of the nozzle.
Function: Distributes the shielding gas in a uniform, non-turbulent pattern.
White Ceramic: The standard, most common type.
Black (or other high-temp materials): Heavy-duty versions designed to withstand higher heat for longer periods.
This is the rigid, curved metal tube at the end of the torch assembly that houses the consumable parts (diffuser, tip adaptor, and tip).
Function: Positions the consumables at the correct angle for welding.
Replacement: While not a frequent consumable, swan necks can be damaged from heat, spatter, or being dropped, and can be replaced.
