AWS Classification: E308L-17 (most common) or E308L-16.
308L: Indicates the alloy is a $approx 19% / 10% composition with Low Carbon , which helps prevent intergranular corrosion.
-17 (Rutile): A rutile coating provides excellent arc stability, minimal spatter, self-releasing slag, and a smooth, clean weld bead.
EN ISO 3581-A: E 19 9 L R 3 2 (for E308L-17 type).
Primary Base Metals: Used for welding stainless steels of the AISI 304L and 304 type, as well as the stabilized 321 and 347 grades.
Corrosion Resistance: Resistant to intergranular corrosion up to a service temperature of approximately +350^circ C or 662 F
Welding Current: Can be used with both AC (Alternating Current) and DC+ (Direct Current Electrode Positive).
DC+ is generally preferred for deeper penetration and stability.
