This type of fitting is commonly used in compressed air (pneumatic) systems.
Name: Pneumatic Push-in Plug, End Cap Plug, or Blanking Plug.
Function: It is designed to be inserted into an unused push-to-connect fitting port or directly into a pneumatic tube/hose to permanently or temporarily seal the opening.
Purpose:
To block off a port on a manifold or fitting that is no longer needed.
To cap the end of a pneumatic hose or tubing to prevent air leakage and keep out dirt, dust, or contaminants.
Mechanism: Like other push-in fittings, it is installed by simply pushing the cylindrical end into the corresponding size of the push-to-connect fitting or hose until it locks and seals. The flat, cap-like end is for easy gripping and removal, often by pressing the release collar on the receiving fitting and pulling the plug out.
Material: It is typically made of plastic (such as Nylon or PBT) or occasionally metal, depending on the required pressure and temperature rating.
Sizing: It is sized based on the outer diameter (OD) of the tubing or the port it is designed to fit (e.g., 4mm, 6mm, 8mm, 10mm, 12mm).
